FAQ

What is JCK NC Lacquer Thinner Used for?
JCK NC Lacquer Thinner is compatible with all N.C Lacquer based products. It gives smooth finishing of lacquer and helps for quick drying of products. It can be used for cleaning of painting tools.
What is JCK NC Lacquer?
In modern techniques, NC lacquer means a range of clear or coloured wood finishes that dry by solvent evaporation or a curing process that produces a hard, durable finish. The finish can be of any sheen level from matt to high gloss and it can be further polished as required.JCK NC Lacquers are quick drying lacquers for wood applications. It will give brilliant finish and great transparency.
What about grain filler and sanding sealer?
It’s essential for a professional looking finish to prepare your wood so that you have a perfect surface for the lacquer. Before application of them sand the surface with 320 no. emery paper to remove any pits or scratches.
Open pored wood such as Oak, Teak , Ash and Mahogany will require grain-filling. You don’t need to grain-fill like Mapple wood.
How many coats should I apply? & How many times to give in between two Coats?
It’s difficult to say about coats as it depends on how smooth surface you require. Generally we recommend 2 -3 coats of undercoats (i.e. JCK NC Sealer or NC Primer) & 1 – 2 coats of Topcoats ( JCK NC Topcoat Clears & Pigmented Lacquers) each of about 3 passes. For interval between two coats it’s depending on temperature & humidity. Generally JCK NC Lacquers you can apply two coats in between 30 minutes to 4 Hours. You need to sand between coats if you need to remove an imperfection such as dust or a run. You should spray thinly enough so that runs don’t happen of course.
